• Question: Why are there so many wind farms? Here in Scotland there are lots of wind farms and I think that they don't look nice.

We are lucky that throughout Africa, people think these look very nice!

So it actually is just a question of personal preference.

Wind Farms usually generate much less power than coal and nuclear power plants. For example, the newest coal station in South Africa generates 4800MW but the biggest wind farm (in SA) makes 140MW.

So we need a LOT of wind farms to make the same amount of energy.

We have to look at other factors – do you want more carbon in the atmosphere which brings about climate change? I don’t think so!
