      Hi Pigeon lady,

      Good question. Planes have progressed a lot since the Wright Brothers first flight in 1903. They are getting more efficient in terms of fuel consumption and noise as engine technology has advanced significantly. Also, they can carry more passengers and had got lighter as metals are being replaced by composite materials. Also, they have changed a lot in terms of piloting: now computers and electronic components are used for everything, making them safer and more reliable.
