• Question: Do you think that engineering will be affected by Brexit?

      Hi Izzy,

      Maybe, nobody really know what is going to happen. It depends on what deals are achieved before. As a researcher, I am very concerned about the scientific collaboration we currently have with European Universities as we have a great research framework with them. And, as you may expect, there are some brilliant scientists based in European universities. Losing that framework would affect all parties involved, and even those not part of the EU, as good scientific research benefits all scientists around the world.

      So, as you can tell, there is a lot of uncertainty. We’ll have to wait a bit.

      not very sure. but i really hope not as most of the progress we have made is because for all the collaborations with our European partners.

      In long:

      Engineering is basically creating things. We create things, usually, to sell these things. Brexit is going to affect how these things are traded. The world is highly intertwined and even though your work as an engineer may not have changed after Brexit, other elements in the company you work for may have changed. And this WILL have an effect!

      As my fellow engineers have written already – the uncertainty around collaboration is what worries engineers the most.
